The Trip of a Life Time...... Bolivia!!! What else is possible?
I was given the opportunity to travel to 4 countries in Central and South America in October 2011- all associated with NPH - and FOTOCAN (Friends of the Orphans Canada is a registered charitable organization) Both organizations filled with volunteers who help children in Latin America.
I was bitten by the humanitarian bug when travelling to the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua in 2010 and 2011 and now - I am returning in 2013 to Nicaragua for 2 weeks to help organize and structure events for groups of volunteers to these countries who by going there, provide much needed financial support along with medical and construction assistance.
And so it was at a Canada Day Party amongst previous travellers and friends - I was approached by the President of Fotocan, Ken Speers, to accompany him on a trip to 4 NPH orphanages to see if they would be in need of Canadian Assistance in the form of groups of people of all walks of life, willing to lend a hand.
The world is in need of a lending hand these days. I myself never bargained for the Haiti earthquake in January of 2010 - but I had already arranged a trip to the DR for March of that year - a scant 10 hours from Haiti and with an organization very heavily involved in the transport of supplies and children to safety in both countries.
And so it is that October 15, 2011, I boarded a plane to Bolivia -
the first of 4 stops in 4 countries NPH Honduras
and NPH El Salvador..... ;-) )
Indeed an Opportunity of a Lifetime.
And One I will treasure and enjoy for years to come. I feel it is the beginning of a new life....one filled with love, kindness and opportunity to grow.
